Often Meditation is incorrectly assumed to be time spent 'not thinking'. This is not so. Meditation is the 'practice' of focusing on the Present Moment. When the Mind wanders with Thoughts from the past or of the future, the 'practice' is to redirect them to the present moment by focusing on a Single Focus Point. A Single Focus Point is often the Breath, but can also be Affirmations, Mantras, and Visualisations. Practicing Meditation can enhance the ability to include Mindfulness in daily life. Mindfulness is observing and being aware of what we are doing as we go about our daily tasks, by paying attention to our Thoughts, Feelings, Behaviours, Movements, and the Environment we are in: What am I Doing? What am I Thinking? What are my Emotions? What can I See? What can I Hear? What can I Feel? What can I Smell? What can I Taste? Mindfulness allows us to embrace the present moment as it is. Meditation & Mindfulness can shift us from our Thoughts and Feelings to the awareness of our True Self - our Soul. We are not our Thoughts or Feelings. We are our Soul experiencing Thoughts and Feelings. Meditation & Mindfulness can help us observe our Thoughts and Feelings rather than identify as them. Practice Meditation daily. Practice Mindfulness throughout each day. The more you practice, the better you will get at living life more deeply and happy!
